Numerous people keep track of cars that are stolen often. This is to help knowing which cars to keep away from buying. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety keeps a list of cars that are stolen the most. The IIHS just released the newest list of stolen cars for the year. There is a surprising corollary, but one that thieves don’t likely consider.
Escalade tops the list of stolen cars
For some reason, Cadillac Escalades are popular. They are the cars most stolen. Seems like like this is normal. Six of the IIHS reports have this same Escalade car on the top. An Escalade will get stolen seven times more than other things. Car thieves will just tow away these SUVs that do really have great anti-theft features. The Escalade is targeted for its glamorous nature. This is as opposed to other luxury SUVs just like the Land Rovers that aren’t as targeted. The full report is accessible on the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety website.
Car thieves considered to be raccoons
There’s an urban myth that raccoons are especially attracted to anything bright and shiny. While the animal’s predilection toward such gleaming metal is not proven, car thieves’ proclivity for automobiles that shine is. The IIHS report for one of the most stolen vehicles lists luxury SUVs, luxury cars and full-size pickups as probably the most usual targets. The most stolen automobiles are listed below:
- Cadillac Escalade
- Ford F250 4 Door
- Infiniti G37 2 door
- Next you will find the Dodge Charger HEMI
- Chevrolet Corvette Z06
- The Hummer H2 is the next car
- Nissan Pathfinder Armada
- The Chevy Avalanche 1500 is an additional car
- Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew
- GMC Yukon
Thieves want performance cars, luxurious SUVs and big pickups. Typically there are tools in trucks too, which thieves won’t complain about.
The other list these cars are on
There is one more list some of the above cars are on. The Forbes list of Worst Made Cars on the Road has the Escalade and Ford F250 on it. Keep away from purchasing flashy new cars. This is something thieves look to get. Go ahead though if you have cash to purchase a new car.
